(NEW YORK) — Now that the incident with former teammate Richie Incognito of the Miami Dolphins is behind him, newly acquired San Francisco 49ers lineman Jonathan Martin is ready to add a new chapter to his football career.
“It’s a blank slate for me,” Martin said on Thursday. “I’m looking to revitalize my career, getting back to playing…I couldn’t be happier.”
This past season, Martin left the Dolphins after he grew fed up with being bullied by Incognito and others in the Dolphins locker room.
The team recently traded Martin to the 49ers for a seventh-round pick in 2015 if Martin is on the 49ers-opening day roster next season.
Martin is reunited with his former college head coach Jim Harbaugh as the two were together at Stanford.
“It’s been a warm welcome,” said Martin.
Martin was a second-round pick by the Dolphins in 2012 and was a starting lineman for the team.
