Michigan Routs Texas 79-65 to Reach Sweet 16
Published at(MILWAUKEE) — Nik Stauskas scored 17 points as the Michigan Wolverines throttled Texas 79-65 on Saturday to advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row.
Jordan Morgan added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the second-seeded Wolverines (27-8), who will face moved the winner of Sunday’s Mercer-Tennessee game in next week’s Midwest Regional semifinals in Indianapolis.
“Huge win for us,” coach John Beilein said. “These guys believe and they did a great job.”
Michigan’s 14 made 3-pointers are its most in team history in an NCAA Tournament game. The seventh-seeded Longhorns outrebounded the Wolverines 41-30, but never recovered after a slow start to the game.
Isaiah Taylor led Texas (24-11) with 22 points.
