Modern Family pulled in 9.7 million viewers on Wednesday night, compared to Idol‘s 9.1 million. Survivor on CBS also drew a bigger audience: 9.76 million.

On A&E, the fifth-season finale of Duck Dynasty attracted six million viewers. It’s a steep drop from the 8.4 million who tuned in to the season-four finale last fall. The most recent season began weeks after one of the show’s stars, Phil Robertson, stirred controversy by criticizing gays in a GQ interview.

Editor’s note: ABC is part owner of the A&E Network.
