According to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, the celebrations will take place in both Rochester, Hoffman's hometown, and New York City, where he lived. The statement was read by film critic and Hoffman's friend Jack Garner at a film series honoring the late Capote actor.

"It's been a devastating loss for us, but I know that you also feel a great sorrow," the statement read, says the Democrat and Chronicle. "We will find our way through this and hear his clear voice and laughter as we do, because he is cheering for all of us to go on, to shine, to be the best that we can be."

Hoffman was found dead on Feb. 2 after an accidental overdose. An autopsy released on Friday that he had heroin, cocaine, benzodiazepines and amphetamine in his system.
