Ordinance May Require Free Ear Plugs at Minneapolis Clubs

While some say it shouldn’t be a government mandate, one city council member is sponsoring an ordinance that would require nearly every music venue– nearly every bar and club in Minneapolis– to make ear plugs available to patrons for free.
Miracle Ear Foundation and 3M are funding the campaign, hoping to make hearing protection “cool and fashionable.”
3M is hoping its free ear plug dispensers catch on in other cities. Nationally, only San Francisco has an ordinance that requires dance venues to carry water and ear plugs.
