Another Earthquake Reported Near Challis

(CHALLIS, ID) – Another earthquake hit the Challis area this week. A magnitude 2.9 temblor struck just before 8 a.m. Tuesday, one of at least six comparable quakes in the same area over the past week. Tuesday’s tremor did not cause any damage, but at least two medium-sized earthquakes in the past month have knocked picture frames off walls in some homes. Challis was the location of Idaho’s largest recorded earthquake in 1983, which took two lives and caused $12.5 million in damage.
