(CHALLIS, ID) – A magnitude 4.9 earthquake hit central Idaho Saturday night, the strongest of its kind since 2005. More than 20 small temblors have hit the area north of Challis in the past two weeks. Residents reported having picture frames and other items rattle off of walls, but no significant damage otherwise. Geologists say there’s nothing abnormal about the frequent quakes, but will continue to monitor the area if the pattern remains consistent.
