Braun Hits Three Home Runs as Brewers Rout Phillies
Published at(PHILADELPHIA) — Ryan Braun hit three home runs and had seven RBIs as the Milwaukee Brewers sent the Philadelphia Phillies packing 10-4 on Tuesday.
Despite a smattering of boos and taunts from Philadelphia fans, Braun turned in one of the finest performances of his career.
“I love it,” Braun said after the game. “It’s great. Seriously, as a competitor, I really do enjoy it. This is a challenging game for all of us, and it’s a long season and playing in an environment like this is motivating.”
Braun has been a target for verbal abuse on the road after serving a 65-game suspension to end last season due to his involvement in the Biogenesis performance-enhancing drug scandal.
His three homers Tuesday broke a streak of 98 plate appearances without a homer and marked the first time he had gone deep since May 22, 2013.
Kyle Lohse (1-1), earned the victory after pitching five innings while giving up three runs. Kyle Kendrick (0-1), took the loss for the Phillies.
