Carmelo Anthony Has Small Tear in Right Shoulder
Published at(NEW YORK) — New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony has a small tear in his right labrum and will sit out the team’s last two games of the season, the Knicks announced Tuesday.
The injury will not require surgery and Anthony will be re-evaluated in about a month, according to the Knicks.
Despite aggravating the shoulder injury on Apr. 2 against the Nets, Anthony continued to play.
“Obviously, he knew it was bothering him when he hurt it two weeks ago but he hung in with us trying to make this last push to get in the playoffs,” Knicks head coach Mike Woodson said.
The 30-year-old Anthony averaged 27.4 points and a career-best 8.1 rebounds per game this season. It is the first time in Anthony’s 11-year NBA career he’s on a team that will miss the playoffs.
