Chad Johnson to Work Out with the Montreal Alouettes

Elsa/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — With the NFL no longer an option at the time being, former Pro Bowl wide receiver Chad Johnson will work out with the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes, which could lead to him eventually signing with the team.
Johnson has not played in the NFL since 2011, but there appears to be mutual interest between the two sides.
“We do expect to meet with Chad Johnson and work him out in Vero Beach, Fla. this week,” Alouettes general manager Jim Popp said. “Talks did take place and have escalated over the last week.”
The 36-year-old Johnson was a member of the Miami Dolphins back in 2012, but was released during training camp after he was arrested for a domestic dispute involving his then-wife, Evelyn Lozada.
Formerly known as Ocho Cinco, at one one in his career, Johnson was among the best wide receivers in the NFL. From 2002-2007 he had over 1,100 receiving yards per season.
His last season came in 2011 when he sparingly played for the New England Patriots.
