“Dancing with the Stars” Introduces ‘The Switch Up’ Monday Night

ABC/ADAM TAYLOR(LOS ANGELES) -- Dancing with the Stars is switching things up on Monday night.

For the first time in series history, the celebrities will switch pro partners, based on America's votes. Each star will perform a new style of dance with his or her new partner.

Candace Cameron Bure was not looking forward to "The Switch Up" at first, but she's become more comfortable with the idea, now that she knows that all of the celebrities will reunite with their original pros next week.

Bure, whose usual partner is Mark Ballas, tells ABC News Radio, "I was really nervous about it, but now that I know we're going back to our original partner, now I'm fine with it. I'm like, oh, this will be fun."

It may be fun for the couples, but they will still feel pressure to perform well. Cheryl Burke, who teams with Drew Carey, notes, "Even though it's just a week and we still go back to our partners, that score is still very important. So whoever gets with Drew better get a higher score, or else we could be the ones going home."

When ice dancer Charlie White and his partner, Sharna Burgess, were asked whether "The Switch Up" would result in same-sex couples, they both suggested it wouldn't work unless the same-sex couples were to perform a jazz or jive-inspired routine.

For the second consecutive week, Dancing with the Stars will welcome a guest judge. After Robin Roberts joined the panel last week, Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba will say hello to former Dancing with the Stars pro Julianne Hough.

Dancing with the Stars airs on ABC at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
