Ducks Rally Late, Top Stars in OT to Win Series
Published at(DALLAS) — Nick Bonino and Devante Smith-Pelly both scored within the final 2:10 of regulation to force overtime — where Bonino scored the game-winner — as the Anaheim Ducks advance to the second-round of the playoffs by beating the Dallas Stars 5-4, in Game 6 Sunday.
After Bonino brought the Ducks within one with his second goal of the playoffs, winger Smith-Pelly scored with 24 seconds remaining and an extra attacker on the ice to send the game to overtime.
Bonino continued his great game by whipping a wrist shot past Kari Lehtonen with 2:47 left to send the Stars packing.
“It’s still hard to believe. I’ve got butterflies in my stomach,” Bonino said. “Scoring the winning goal in a playoff series is something you play in your driveway when you’re a kid.”
Anaheim advances to take on the winner of the Los Angeles/San Jose series.
