Memphis Evens Series with Thunder in OT Win
(OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla.) -- Zach Randolph had 25 points, including the go-ahead bucket in overtime, as Memphis outlasted Oklahoma City for a 111-105 overtime win on Monday night.
The victory now evens the series between the two at 1-1.
The Grizzlies had to overcome a late rally by Oklahoma City in the fourth quarter as Kevin Durant scored 20 of his 36 points after the third to help force the extra session. Memphis led 98-93 with under 15 seconds to play in regulation when Durant hit an improbable shot from the left corner while falling out of bounds. He was also fouled on the play and converted on the free-throw to bring the Thunder within one point.
On the other end, Mike Conley made one of two free throws to put the Grizzlies ahead 99-97 with 12 seconds remaining in the fourth. After Russell Westbrook missed a potential game-winning three, Kendrick Perkins collected an offensive rebound and made the layup that sent the game into overtime.
Both squads traded baskets in the first few moments of the extra frame before Tony Allen found Randolph to put Memphis up 107-105 with 26 seconds to play in overtime. Serge Ibaka was then called for traveling while both Courtney Lee and Randolph each made a pair of free throws to seal the game.
Randolph led all Memphis players with 25 points while Conley recorded a double-double with 19 points and 12 assists. Durant led all scorers with 36 points and pulled in 11 rebounds. Game Three of the series will be played on Thursday in Memphis.
