Minnesota Timberwolves Head Coach Rick Adelman Retires

Ronald Martinez/Getty Images(MINNEAPOLIS) -- Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Rick Adelman announced his retirement on Monday.

The 67-year-old Adelman spent 23 seasons in the NBA as a head coach, leading the Portland Trail Blazers (1988-1994), Golden State Warriors (1995-1997), Sacramento Kings (1999-2006), Houston Rockets (2007-2011), and T-Wolves (2011-2014). He compiled a record of 1,042-749, winning two Western Conference championships during his time with the Blazers.

Adelman also suited up in the NBA as a point guard. He was originally selected out of Loyola Marymount University by the San Diego Rockets in the seventh round of the 1968 draft. He averaged 7.7 points and 3.5 assists in eight seasons with the Rockets, Blazers, Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Jazz and Kansas City Kings.
