New Hope for Release of Bowe Bergdahl

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Taliban officials have indicated that they are willing to release POW Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, but are not sure which government officials to turn to for a deal. This is according to a U.S. defense official who requested not to be identified because they were not authorized to speak publicly.
Bergdahl, a Hailey native, has been held captive in Afghanistan for nearly five years. Numerous U.S. agencies and dozens of officials are working on bringing him home. Critics of the effort say a lack of communication between the parties involved have hindered the process.
The White House and the Defense Department defend their work towards securing Bergdahl’s release.
