DeCoud, 29, played his previous six NFL seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, making the Pro Bowl in 2012.

“Thomas provides a veteran in the secondary who is familiar with the NFC South and has been a very solid player,” Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said in a statement. “We are pleased to add him to a safety group that has good experience and production.”
DeCoud started all but two games for the Falcons between 2009-2013. During his time in Atlanta, DeCoud played in 89 games, recording 293 tackles, 28 passes defended, 14 interceptions, four forced fumbles, and three sacks.
DeCoud joins Antoine Cason and Roman Harper as the third new defensive back to sign with the Panthers in the last three and a half weeks.
