Despite his stellar sophomore season, Davis will wind up playing just 67 games this season with various ailments. He also missed 18 games his rookie season.

Team doctors recommended that Davis sit out the rest of the season as a precaution to deal with back soreness that has caused him discomfort this season.

Regardless of his health, Davis has firmly cemented himself as one of the brightest young stars in the NBA this season.

Just 21 years old, Davis averaged 20.8 points, 10.0 rebounds, and an NBA-leading 2.82 blocks per game.

Injuries took their toll on the Pelicans this season, who were expected to compete for a playoff spot coming into the season. Along with Davis, Eric Gordon, Ryan Anderson, Jrue Holiday, and Jason Smith have all missed time due to various injuries.
