Private Sector Employment Increased by 220,000 Jobs in April

E+/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Private sector employment increased by 220,000 jobs from March to April, according to a new Automatic Data Processing report.
The ADP National Employment Report released Wednesday details figures stronger than expected. The new numbers beat estimates of 200,000 and came in as the highest monthly total this year.
The Labor Department’s report on the topic is set to be released on Friday.
Private sector job gains for March were revised to 209,000, according to the ADP. For April, job totals were up 82,000 for small businesses, 81,000 for medium-sized business, and 57,000 for large businesses.
Mark Zandi, chief economist of Moody’s Analytics, said the job market is gaining strength.
“After a tough winter, employers are expanding payrolls across nearly all industries and company sizes,” Zandi said in a statement. “The recent pickup in job growth at mid-sized companies may signal better business confidence. Job market prospects are steadily improving.”
