(ARLINGTON, Texas) — The Texas Rangers placed third baseman Adrian Beltre on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 9 on Sunday.
Beltre suffered a Grade 1 strain in his quadriceps muscle on Tuesday against the Red Sox.
“That’s probably the smarter thing, to err on the side of caution,” Daniels said. “The last thing we want is to be without him for an extended period of time.”
Beltre was hitting .286 this season with four RBIs and Kevin Kouzmanoff will take his place at third base.
The last stint on the disabled list for the four-time Gold Glover came in 2011 and the earliest that he’ll be able to return is on April 25.
