This is the second starting pitcher in the last week to land on the DL for the Rays, as Matt Moore is also nursing an elbow injury.

The 26-year-old Cobb had dominated his last two starts, as he hasn’t allowed a run in his last 15 1/3 innings pitched.

During Saturday’s game against the Reds, Cobb experienced tightness in his side, but pitched through the discomfort.

“I’m not exactly sure when it happend,” Rays manager Joe Maddon said. “We thought it could have been dehydration.”

While it is unknown how long Cobb will be out, they put him on the DL in anticipation of him needing to miss at least his next two starts.

The typical recovery for the injury is about eight weeks, but the team and Cobb belive he may only miss anywhere between four and five weeks.
