The Blue Jays took an early 3-0 lead in the first innings, but the Red Sox scored 6 run in the third inning including a grand slam by catcher A.J. Pierzynski to take a 6-3 lead.

After a shaky start, Red Sox starting pitcher Clay Buchholz rebounded nicely to pick up his first win in his last five starts. He wound up giving up three earned runs in seven innings of work.

“I was almost too amped up for the start today at the beginning,” Buchholz said. “Everything was up and I wasn’t finishing my pitches.”

The Red Sox have now won six of their last 10 games, and trail the New York Yankees by 2.5 games in the AL East.
