San Francisco Commuter Complains of Bedbugs on BART Train
Published at(SAN FRANCISCO) — New Yorkers often complain about rats in the subway stations, but San Francisco residents have a new — and perhaps more disturbing — complaint. Bedbugs.
A whole Bay Area Rapid Transit train was taken out of service on Saturday after a rider said he was bitten by bed bugs on his commute this past Thursday. Chris Finn, a local transit union official, told ABC News that passenger surveys “indicated cleanliness was the biggest problem they were seeing,” and that while BART “did a little bit of something towards that,” the union would like more serious action to be taken.
According to other commuters, the seats on some of the BART trains are covered in stains.
One commuter, Blue Thomas, told ABC that he was particularly concerned due to the trains’ wool seats.
