Meyers, who succeeded Jimmy Fallon as host of NBC’s Late Night two months ago, will emcee the Emmys live from the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles on Monday, August 25.

Paul Telegdy, the president of late night and alternative programming for NBC Entertainment, said in a statement, “Seth’s expertise and ease in front of a live audience during his time at SNL, as well as his comedic brilliance both as a writer and in front of the camera, makes him the perfect choice to host the Emmys.”

Television Academy Chairman and CEO Bruce Rosenblum adds, “Seth is such a talented performer and writer, and we know he will bring something unique to hosting the Primetime Emmy Awards.”

Meyers previously hosted the 2010 and 2011 editions of ESPN’s ESPY Awards, as well as the 2011 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner.

Neil Patrick Harris hosted the 2013 Emmy Awards, which aired on CBS.

The 2014 ceremony, which will air live from coast to coast, will be held on a Monday to avoid a conflict with NBC’s Sunday Night Football coverage.
