Spike Jonze Wins Lawsuit Claiming He Ripped Off “Her”

Warner Bros.(LOS ANGELES) — Spike Jonze came out the winner in a lawsuit filed against him by two men who claimed the director ripped off their screenplay for his Oscar-winning movie Her.
TMZ reports screenwriters Sachin Gadh and Jonathan Sender claimed Jonze stole the concept for their screenplay Belv, about a cellphone that comes to life and befriends a human, but the judge disagreed, throwing the case out of court.
In his decision, the judge ruled the two scripts aren’t similar, noting Her is a thoughtful drama and Belv is a comedy. The judge added the two scripts contain different stories, characters, themes, settings, moods, pacing and dialogue.
Jonze won the best original screenplay Oscar for Her last month.
