Twitter Helmet to Let Users Tweet with Their Heads?

GETTY 4114 Twitter? SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1396362272518seewhatmitchsee/iStock Editorial/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — If Twitter launched a new device, a helmet that would allow users to send a tweet using simple head motions, would you use it?

Millions of Twitter users don’t have to worry about that idea — not yet, anyway — because the announcement of a Twitter Helmet was, in fact, an April Fool’s Day joke.

The microblogging site made the announcement Tuesday morning in a special blog post touting a helmet created with an “impact-resistant, oleophobic-treated glass” that would allow the wearer to tweet by “pecking” their head.

The blog said the helmet would be available this September for $139.99 and also feature accessories like “feather-shaped Wi-Fi and cellular signal boosters.”

Twitter went so far as to create a prototype of the so-called Twitter Helmet and debuted it Tuesday on ABC’s Good Morning America.

At the end of the show, however, GMA correspondent Sara Haines, who had earlier “tweeted” via the helmet, revealed it was all an April Fool’s Day prank.
