Unstable Hillside Prompts Evacuations

(JACKSON, WY) – An unstable hillside has prompted the evacuation of several Jackson neighborhoods and businesses. The area around Budge Drive and the Walgreen’s complex were evacuated Wednesday as a precaution. Lower Valley Energy has also been disconnecting utilities for homes at the base of the hill. Unstable soil caused a pump station to shift on Sunday, which also triggered a water main break. Heavy water saturation is considered to be a major factor as the hill continues to erode. Emergency crews will monitor the hill until further notice.
