In California the price of regular unleaded has jumped 13 cents in the past week — 16 cents higher than at this time last year. The state’s average for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is now at $4.16, according to new numbers from the U.S. Energy Department.

With many areas of the state more expensive than the average, California remains the only state where drivers are paying more than $4.00 per gallon. The West Coast average has climbed 10 cents in the past week.

The national average for regular unleaded fuel is up 6 cents in the past week to $3.66 per gallon.  That’s now 11 cents higher than at this time last year.
