Bill Gates No Longer Top Microsoft Shareholder
(NEW YORK) -- Bill Gates no longer holds more shares of Microsoft than anyone else, the first time that has been true since Gates founded the company in 1975.
Steve Ballmer, former CEO of the company is now the largest shareholder, the Bloomberg News says, after Gates sold 4.6 million shares, leaving him with about 3.1 million fewer than Ballmer's 333.2 million shares. Ballmer took over for Gates as CEO in 2000.
Ballmer has a net worth of $18.8 billion, Bloomberg News says. Gates remains the world's richest individual, with a net worth of $79.9 billion.
