Bills’ DL Marcell Dareus Arrested on Drug Charges
(HEFLIN, Ala.) -- Buffalo Bills Pro Bowl defensive lineman Marcell Dareus was arrested in Alabama on Monday night on drug charges, the county sheriff's office confirmed on Wednesday.
A jailer for Cleburne County in Heflin, who wanted to remain anonymous, told ESPN.com that Dareus was arrested and then released within an hour on Monday night.
Dareus was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, the jailer reported.
"All we know right now is what we have seen in media reports and we will continue to look into this," Bills senior vice president of communications Scott Berch told the Tuscaloosa News.
Dareus missed the last two games of the season after he violated head coach Doug Marrone's team rule.
Dareus made his first Pro Bowl for the Bills last season after being drafted in 2011. He had 7.5 sacks and 71 tackles last season.
