Brewers Place Outfielder Ryan Braun on the 15-Day DL
(CINCINNATI) -- Despite his best efforts to avoid it, the Milwaukee Brewers have placed outfielder Ryan Braun on the 15-Day disabled list with a strained oblique on his right side.
The team had been playing it safe with Braun as he was held out the previous six games because of the injury. Because the move was made retroactive to April 27, he will be eligible to return on May 12.
Braun was off to a great start this season. In 22 games, the 30-year-old Braun was hitting .318 with six home runs and 18 RBIs.
The play of Braun was a big reason for hte Brewers hot start this sesaon. Through 30 games, the team is 21-9, which is the best record in all of baseball. The team won just 74 games all of last season.
Fortunately for the Brewers, the team also activated outfielder Logan Schafter who was on teh DL for a strained right hamstring.
Braun was placed on the DL for the first time in his career last season and he also served a 65-game suspension for his involvement in Biogenesis.
