Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin Injures Leg in World Championships
(MINSK, Belarus) -- Washington Capitals winger Alexander Ovechkin is expected to miss at least one game after sustaining a right leg injury over the weekend, which at first appeared like a potentially devastating injury.
Ovechkin was injured in Russia's game against Germany in the ice hockey world championships on Sunday, taking a hit in his right knee from Marcus Kink.
He laid on the ice for several minutes. But despite the concerns, the injury isn't seen as serious.
"We will continue to monitor his progress and request additional tests and medical information for our review," the Capitals said in a statement. "Our medical staff receives and reviews that information, we will be able to make a better determination of the injury."
Ovechkin is one of the best players in NHL. This past season he scored 51 goals for the Capitals.
