Ellis Leads Mavericks Past Spurs, Force Game 7
(DALLAS) -- Monta Ellis scored 12 of his game-high 29 points in the final five minutes of the game to push the Dallas Mavericks past the San Antonio Spurs 113-111 Friday night, forcing a Game 7 in their first-round playoff series.
Dirk Nowitzki, who is 4-0 in his career in Game 7's, added 22 points in the win.
"Well, it's the ultimate thrill," Nowitzki said. "Nothing matters anymore. Just this one game."
Despite losing, the Spurs shot 53 percent from the field. But Dallas was almost as good shooting 52 percent from the field in the win.
"I thought we just made too many mistakes tonight," Spurs forward Tim Duncan said. "Giving up 37 points in the last quarter is just too much for us. Defensively, we've got to be a little more solid than that."
Tony Parker led the Spurs with 22 points and six assists in the loss.
Game 7 is Sunday in San Antonio. Tip-off is still to be determined.
