Farnsworth Signs With Astros
(WASHINGTON) -- Reliever Kyle Farnsworth signed a contract for the rest of the season with the Houston Astros Saturday.
The signing comes just days after the New York Mets released the 38-year-old Farnsworth.
"You're talking about a guy who has experience as a closer," Astros skipper Bo Porter said. "He's pitched high-leverage innings the last 10 years of his career and he's been here, he's done it."
He's done it this year as well. Farnsworth pitched 17 innings for the Mets this season saving three games while compiling a 3.18 ERA and 10 strikeouts.
Farnsworth has 57 career saves.
