Holmes Wins Wells Fargo Championship

Richard Heathcote/Getty Images(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) -- J.B Holmes hit a 3-foot bogey putt on the final hole of the Wells Fargo Championship on Sunday, giving him a one-stroke win over Jim Furyk at Quail Hollow

It's Holmes' third victory of his career and his first since having been diagnosed in 2011 with structural defects in the cerebellum known as Chiari malformations; the ailment led him to have two surgeries, one of which entailed taking out a piece of his skull.

"Just enjoying the moment," Holmes said of his demeanor before his tournament winning putt. "You don't get that very often, so getting up and thanking God for letting me have the opportunity to do it. Whether I made it or not, just enjoy being there."

Holmes shot a 1-under 71 Sunday to finish the tournament at 14-under 274.

Jim Furyk finished with a 13-under 275 to come in second, while Martin Flores shot a 12-under 276 to finish third.
