Jackson Could Crack Down on Short-Term Renting
(JACKSON, WY) – The city of Jackson is considering better enforcement of an ordinance that bans short-term renting. A Teton County law prohibits property owners from renting out space to anyone for less than 30 days without a permit. Democrats have long argued that the practice undercuts the local government’s ability to collect taxes, and that many property owners don’t meet commercial renting codes. Similar anti-renting laws have been enacted in other cities dependent on tourism. Officials say they’re looking into software to help spot illegal renting ads online.
