Kansas Lands PG Devonte Graham
(NEW YORK) -- Point guard Devonte Graham has chosen to attend Kansas.
The 6-foot, 155 pound Graham, who originally signed with Appalachian State in 2012, was also considering NC State and Virginia.
Graham will compete with Frank Mason and Connor Frankamp for the starting point guard job next season.
"I think Devonte will be an immediate impact guy for us," Kansas head coach Bill Self said in a statement. "That's not to take away from the other guards we have but this is a situation that we just got a lot better."
Particularly because the team's starting point guard last season, Naadir Tharpe, decided to transfer.
Graham played last season for Brewster Academy, a place Self is familiar with.
"We've had our fair share of guys from Brewster over the years, primarily Naadir and Thomas (Robinson)," Self said. "We're very familiar with that program. We certainly solidified our situation in the backcourt by bringing in a quality guy and I think Devonte is one of the premier point guards in the country."
