Spurs’ R.C. Buford Named NBA’s Executive of the Year
(NEW YORK) -- After once again constructing one of the best teams in the NBA, San Antonio Spurs general manager R.C. Buford has been named the league's Executive of the Year.
After making the NBA Finals last season, the Spurs won 62 games in 2013-2014, which was the most in the NBA.
"I'm extremely happy for R.C. Buford to have won this award, which is both absolutely deserved and long overdue," Spurs head coach Greg Popovich said on Wednesday. "His knowledge of the rules, basketball expertise, and keen eye for talent have served the Spurs organization well for a very long time. It has been a personal pleasure to be at his side during this period."
This was the first time Buford has won the award despite the continuous success the Spurs have had over the past decade.
Phoenix' Ryan McDonough finished second in voting while Portland's Neil Olshey finished third in voting.
