Tesla Cancels Job Fair After Overwhelming Response
(FREMONT, Calif.) -- Tesla Motors cancelled its job fair Saturday following concerns with traffic safety and overwhelming response from attendees.
Thousands lined up outside the automaker's factory in Fremont, California, creating havoc on local roads and blocking pathways.
"We had folks camping out overnight in advance in anticipation of the job fair, and so the highways were getting blocked and really congested, and so that's why we decided to close it after speaking to local law enforcement," Telsa spokesperson Shanna Hendriks said.
The situation became dangerous, according to Fremont police, with cars parked on both sides of the roadway and pedestrians running in the street. Six hundred job openings were open with the company.
Though disappointed by the shut down, some job seekers still remained positive.
"You gotta stay strong," said attendee Donovaghn Calloway. "Because you know, even if there's one opportunity lost, there's a thousand left."
