Tiger Woods Will Miss U.S. Open
(DUBLIN, Ohio) -- Tiger Woods announced on his website Wednesday that he will miss the 2014 U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2 because he is still recovering from back surgery.
"Unfortunately, I won't be there because I am not physically able to play competitive golf," Woods said. "I'd like to convey my regrets to the USGA leadership, the volunteers and the fans that I won't be at Pinehurst. The U.S. Open is very important to me, and I know it's going to be a great week. Despite missing the first two majors, and several other important tournaments, I remain very optimistic about this year and my future."
Woods has been sidelined since playing in the WGC- Cadillac Championship in early March. The 14-time major title winner had surgery on March 31 for a pinched nerve in his back.
This will be the sixth major championship Tiger has missed because of injuries.
