Blue Jays Shut Out Royals, 4-0, Buehrle Wins 10th
(TORONTO) -- Mark Buehrle improved to 10-1 after the Blue Jays (34-24) silenced the Kansas City Royals (26-30), 4-0 on Sunday.
Buehrle pitched eight innings and allowed six hits, one walk and three strikeouts.
"It was one of those games where I could have gotten my butt handed to me," said Buehrle, who has now won six straight decisions. "I was making mistakes and they weren't making me pay for it."
The Blue Jays homered twice in the victory and Edwin Encarnacion's 19th homer of the year in the bottom of the eighth gave Aaron Loup a four-run cushion in the ninth.
"Today he was as good as he's been all year," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said of Buehrle's performance. "He topped off a nice homestand for us."
Toronto is now 18-13 at home and Buehrle became the MLB's first ten-game winner.
