California Chrome Starts in No. 2 Post at Belmont Stakes

Dylan Buell/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- California Chrome will start from the No. 2 post under Victor Espinoza on Saturday at Belmont Park --  eleven Belmont winners have come out of the No. 2 post.

Chrome is trying to become the 12th Triple Crown winner.

"I thought he looked better now than he did after the Preakness," trainer Art Sherman said. "I couldn’t believe how much weight he put on. Going on the Triple Crown trail, it’s kind of rough. He’s an amazing horse."

"He’s [California Chrome] doing outstanding," asistant trainer Alan Sherman said. "I couldn’t ask for anything more right now. I'm just enjoying the ride he’s put us on."

This will be the third race for the colt in a five-week span.

Chrome's biggest opponent, Wicked Strong will start in the No. 9 post.
