Candiens to Retire Guy Lapointe’s No. 5 Jersey

Len Redkoles/ NHLI via Getty Images(MONTREAL) -- Hall of Famer Guy Lapointe will have his No. 5 jersey retired by the Montreal Candiens next season, the team confirmed on Wednesday.

Lapointe's jersey will be the second one to hang from the Bell Centre rafters along with Bernie Geoffrion's.

Lapointe, 66, was part of six Stanley Cup teams with the Candiens and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1993. The defenseman spent 14 seasons in Montreal and played for the Blues and Bruins at the tail end of his career.  He played 894 games in his career and scored 171 goals with 451 assists.
