Chukars Pick up First Win After Big Fifth Inning

(IDAHO FALLS, ID)  — Five was the number of the night for the Idaho Falls Chukars Wednesday as they score all five of their runs in the fifth inning to beat the Orem Owlz 5-3 for their first win of the season.  The Greybirds has only managed 5 runs in their first 18 innings of the season.  The big inning started with a walk, that was followed by singles from three of the next four batters to score three of the runs.  Fielding errors by Orem extending the inning as the Chukars scored the five runs on just four hits.

Jake Newberry (1-0)  got the win after going 5.1 innings, allowing just one earned run and striking out six Owlz.  The battle of the birds will finish off Thursday night as the Chukars and the Owlz wrap up a four game series at Melaleuca Field.  Gametime is scheduled for 7:15 pm.
