Cristiano Ronaldo is Dealing with Knee Tendonitis
(NEW YORK) -- Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo is dealing with tendonitis in his left knee.
The 29-year-old Ronaldo, who has scored 65 goals in 59 games this season with Real Madrid and Portugal, also missed a game last week due to a thigh problem.
"We hope that Cristiano is in good enough shape to play -- and to help the team," Portuguese teammate Nani said. "If for some reason he is not there, whoever is there playing has to be confident in their ability to get the job done."
Portugal plays in Group G at the World Cup, the same group as the United States.
Portugal's first World Cup game is June 16 versus Germany.
