Dairy Worker in Hidden Camera Video Convicted of Animal Cruelty


(BOISE, ID)  — A worker for Bettencourt Dairies, Idaho’s largest dairy factory farm, has been found guilty of criminal cruelty to animals.  Javier Victor Rojas-Loayza was caught shocking and beating cows at the dairy on hidden camera secretly recorded by Mercy for Animals in 2012.   Rojas-Loayza was sentenced to two years probation, fees and fines of nearly $500, and 72 hours on the sheriff’s work detail.  He is also barred from working with animals while on probation.  After the video surfaced, the Idaho Legislature passed the “Ag-Gag” Law which punishes individuals who secretly record video on dairies.
