Fire Burning Near Stanley


(STANLEY, ID) – The first major wildfire of the year has started in central Idaho. The Gold Fire near Stanley burned more than 80 acres by Thursday, and is expected to be contained Friday evening. Three hotshot crews, six engine crews, and five aircraft have been called in to keep the flames at bay. Forest Service Road 210 has been closed in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
