IRS Investigation Hits Snag as Evidence Destroyed
(WASHINGTON) -- A year-long investigation into the mistreatment of conservative political groups by the Internal Revenue Service has run into a serious and, potentially, illegal snag: Evidence in the case has been destroyed.
Lois Lerner is the IRS official who invoked the Fifth Amendment and refused to testify about how Tea Party groups were treated.
Now, House Republican-led committees are infuriated to learn that not only did her computer crash, losing a critical year of her emails, but apparently the IRS wiped the hard drive clean and literally destroyed it.
