Jimmie Johnson Wins Michigan 400
(BROOKLYN, Mich.) -- Cross another track off the list for Jimmie Johnson.
Johnson took home the checkered flag for the first time at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday and led 39 of the 200 laps.
Johnson has now won the last three out of four Sprint Cup races and has undoubtedly secured a spot in the Chase.
"I wasn't taking anything for granted on that final trip around," Johnson said.
"About 200 yards before the finish line, I knew if the car exploded, I'd still slide across the finish line," Johnson joked. "That's finally when I relaxed and let it go."
It took the six-time Sprint Cup champion 25 times to finally get into Victory Lane at Michigan.
Kevin Harvick, who won the pole, finished in second and was followed by Brad Keselowski.
Paul Menard and Kasey Kahne rounded out the top five.
