Nadal Defeats Djokovic for 9th French Open Championship

Comstock/Thinkstock(PARIS) -- (1) Rafael Nadal defeated (2) Novak Djokovic in four sets, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2, 6-4 to win the 2014 French Open Men’s championship on Sunday. It’s his 14th career Grand Slam championship and fifth title in a row at Roland Garros.

The 28-year-old Nadal took down Robby Ginepri of the United States, Dominic Thiem of Austria, Leonardo Mayer of Argentina, Dusan Lajovic of Serbia, David Ferrer of Spain, Andy Murray of the United Kingdom and Djokovic en route to his ninth French Open Men’s championship.

Nadal has now won 35 straight matches at the French Open and is 66-1 in tennis’ second grand slam of the season.
