S.D. Padres Select Johnny Manziel In MLB Draft
(NEW YORK) -- The San Diego Padres selected former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel with the 837rd overall pick in the 2014 Major League Baseball draft on Saturday.
“Big thank you to the @Padres and @padresmikedee for selecting me in the MLB draft,” Manziel tweeted. “What a great day!”
The 2013 Heisman Trophy winner was listed as a shortstop for the Aggies, but never played for them because of his football commitment. He lasted played on the diamond when he attended Tivy High School in Kerrville, Texas.
In last month’s NFL draft, the Cleveland Browns took Manziel with the 22nd overall pick.
